What’s new with the Bleu?
Besides a wonderful new year, that is? 🙂
Attended a great workshop in my hometown of Columbus, Ohio this past Saturday. It was presented by romance author extraordinaire, Kara Lennox, and sponsored by the Central Ohio Fiction Writers (our local branch of RWA). It was an 9am-4pm affair and I was worried that one person would never be able to keep the masses intrigued for that long. I was wrong. She did a great job and she’s posted writing tips and pointers from the workshop on her blog so check out http://karalennox.wordpress.com/ and tell her Ava Bleu sent you.
More good news: I have been nominated for the Romance Slam Jam Emma Award for Debut Author of the Year. I know, crazy wonderful, right? I’m trying not to think about it too much because I don’t want to jinx myself but I’m thinking about it all the time. The winner will be announced at the annual Slam Jam Conference, April 27-May 1, 2011 in Baltimore, MD. Check out the site, information and history of this wonderful organization at their website: www.romanceslamjam.org.
Also, check me out this Friday when I join some of the ladies from the Slam Jam and others at Shelfari’s Black Romance Online for a day-long discussion of The Diva of Peddler’s Creek. If you haven’t been to Shelfari, you’re really missing out on a great resource. You still have time to join up and join in Friday’s discussion. I’m always anxious to hear how people feel about my writing and I’m thrilled that I’m getting reviews. Onward and upward!
Much love,
Ava
