Life Imitates Television
I miss my zombies.
I hate the television hiatus when my favorite shows take a break. They hook you on a television show and then swipe it away for months on end. It’s like forcing us to go cold turkey only to get us hooked again next season. I get pretty miffed in the interim and swear I won’t go back … but I always do.
It’s kind of like writing. We love to write but many of us reach a point when we have to shut down production for a while. Some of us even quit the biz. Some of us swear we won’t go back. And then, we do.
It’s kind of like life. We go along, happy as clams and then a situation or incident or nasty break up happens and we hole up in our house or apartment or condo and swear never to love again. Pull out the nun’s habit … button our shirts up all the way to our chins and swear we are done being happy. But then, a good joke makes us crack a smile or a good friend does something sweet or we get that promotion or a good review. And there we are, happy again.
I remind myself when I fall in to a funk or a bad spot in my career or love life that just as fast and easily it can go bad, it can go good again. We suffer through the tough times to get to the great ones. That’s writing. That’s love. That’s the way of the world.
I can wait a little while to see the zombies. The delay will only make my heart grow fonder.

April 27, 2013 at 3:49 pmI am dreading the hiatus of SCANDAL once the season 2 finale airs. Good thing I will have BIG BROTHER to tide me through the summer.
